summer music camp for kids
fun with fundamentals
This summer, we are offering an educational week-long, half-day music camp for kids ages 5-10. The theme of the camp is “Fun with Fundamentals,” and the curriculum is designed to strengthen children’s foundation in the fundamentals of music so that they can have basic tools to both excel at and enjoy playing music, deepening their understanding of melody, rhythm, and harmony through play, games, and interactive learning. Space will be limited to 8 participants per camp to keep the materials highly individualized and to maximize growth and learning.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of musical genres, instruments and styles, and to sing a children’s choir song to be performed for family at the end of the week.
Location: Sarah Gettys Music Studio, 2075 South Bascom Avenue, Campbell, CA 95008
Dates: June 23-27 or July 28-August 1
Instructors: Camps will be taught by Sarah Gettys with the assistance of high school helpers
Daily Schedule (8:30am-12:30pm, M-F):
8:30am-9am: Group Musicianship Warm-up Games
9am-9:30am: Music Listening / Music History Class
9:30am-10am: Making Music Together (exploring new instruments, group playing/singing)
10-10:30am: Snack break
10:30-11am: Small Group Musicianship and Ear-training Class (beginner and intermediate)
11-11:30am: Musical Crafts
11:30-11:45: Stretch break
11:45-12:30: Children’s Choir/Singing in Harmony
TUITION: $520 (8 spots total available per week)
Early Sign Up Rate: $450 if registered before March 1
